Agility classes

Beginner Agility

This is a 7 week class, 1 hours each week, for all dogs.   There are no pre-requisite training requirements for this class, but it will help if your dog can sit and down on command, walk calmly on leash, and have a reliable recall.   We will start from the very beginning and introduce the standard AKC and UKC agility equipment plus some basic handling skills.  This is designed for both fun and with future competition in mind.    Cost is $75 per session.

The next class will start on Thursday, August 14, 2008, 8:00 pm.    Your instructor will be Terri Wilson.

Intermediate Agility

This class continues on from the Beginner Agility class working on the different obstacles  and putting them into sequences.  Class meets for one hour each week for 6 weeks.  The cost is $75.

The next Intermediate Agility class is pending.  Your instructor will be Terri Wilson.

Advanced Agility

Before starting the advanced agility classes, your dog will need to understand the basics of clicker training (taught in the Beginner's class, at the weekend Clicker Seminar, or the ClickLearn  class).  You will also need to attend the Beginner Agility class where you and your dog are introduced to all the entry level agility obstacles.  Dates for those sessions are listed in the class schedule.

For dogs that have already started agility training, each handler/dog team will be evaluated and the appropriate class will be determined from that.

  Open Practice

Open practice sessions are now available on Sunday evenings.  Contact Terri Wilson (willowacres@earthlink.net) for dates and time.

RUNAMUCKS - aka Agility Fun Runs

These 'show-n-go' events give all agility enthusiasts a chance to run their dogs on DIXIE'S equipment.  There will be courses set up with different sequences for two different skill levels.  The courses will be typical AKC courses, but there may also be some UKC equipment available off to the side.  The surface is sand over dirt.  Entries are taken the 30 minutes before the run - $3 for the first run, $2 for additional run (per dog).

    Dates are pending.
