Beginner Dog Training with DIXIE’S

At DIXIE’S Animal Training, all dogs 5 months of age and older are eligible for the Beginner class.
This one-hour class lasts for 6 weeks. Cost is $65.

The topics and skills practiced in the Beginner's class include

  • How Dogs Think

  • Rewards

  • Walking on a loose leash

  • Sit

  • Down

  • Stand

  • Stay

  • Come

  • Handling

  • Agility fun

  • Hand Signals

  • ...and more!

Some basic behavior problems may be addressed if time is available.

All classes are taught using “click and treat” methods and basic behavior modification techniques.
How to use a clicker, targeting, and touch stick are taught, along with the concepts of:

·         Positive reinforcement

·         Negative reinforcement

·         Positive/negative punishment

You will be taught how and when to appropriately use these techniques to produce reliable and happy dogs capable of achieving their full potential as companion or competition winners.
